Ways to Graft- Technique

fireduck(10a)April 3, 2013

I figured this would be an excellent place to obtain information on how you all make your cuts on scions. I graft mainly avocados....but I am thinking that my method is really a left-handed (backwards) method. I was always taught to cut with a knife away from my body. Is this wrong? As I consider a grafting knife purchase....I am thinking the standard flat edge on the blade...may be on the wrong side for me. What is correct???

Fireduck,

I'd check out the Tropical Fruits Forum or possibly even the Fruit and Orchards Forum for advice on grafting avocados. Also, I know there are some good videos on YouTube about this.

Some grafting techniques are usually accomplished by cutting towards one's body. For safety, BE CAREFUL. Anything you do with a knife could potentially be dangerous, but with a little common sense, you should be OK.
