Propagating Coleus in Water Problem

katiegreyyJune 21, 2014

I have a coleus cutting that I have rooted in water. It's the burgundy colored coleus and it has small roots as of now. it's got some sort of issue, though. I've lost one leaf already - it started wilting in random spots (the leaf) and eventually completely wilted to the point where it came off rather easy. I lost another big leaf several days later with the same symptoms. it's growing new leaves but I don't know what this is and I don't want it to die completely.

Plant it in a good growing medium and it will likely be fine. Coleus is one of the easiest plants to root in water, but even it does much better when planted in soil or a potting mix.
