Can you grown a raspberry bush from a wild raspberry cutting?

friend(z6a NJ)June 18, 2008

Hi all

My mom called me with this question. A janitor at the school she works at found a raspberry "tree" he says ( i guess it grew into a tree shape..) anyway- they are sure it's raspberries apparently- i havent looked myself. But he was complaining how expensive the berries are to buy and asked her if it was possible to grow his own from a cutting.

She in turn called me, and I think you can- but I really don't know how..

I am not at all experienced with rootings and such- but i'd love to be..

I'd like to learn how to root my butterfly bush and also a neighbor's tree hydrangea that has a LOVELY sucker coming off the bottom just calling to be cut! :)

Can you guys give me advice? I'm sorry to abuse your knowledge!

Can take a cutting of firm new growth NOW! apply 0.1% IBA (Rooting hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist.. takes 25-80 days to root.
