Parsely: Can I make it grow longer?

kunoichisamaJuly 3, 2011

I have a parsley plant which has been with me for 2 years. It's produced a seed stalk and I'm sad to see it go. I was wondering if I can trick it into growing for longer if I prune that off, or would I just be killing it before it seeds if I do this?

It's in a pot outdoors right now so I don't think it can hope to sow its own seeds into that narrow circle of soil.

If conditions are good, the plant will continue to produce harvestable foliage if you remove the seed stalks. The taste may not be as good as it was the first season though. Your best bet would be to plant new plants each year.

Why not let it go to seed and plant it's children?
