Does anybody have suggestions for propagation by cuttings of Mahonia?

The Reference Manual of Woody Plant Propagation says that now through November is probably the best time. Bottom heat and 3000 PPM hormone should help. Takes about 8 weeks to root. This is the common Mahonia aquifolium, "Oregon Grape". I never bother to take cuttings because I have so many rooted suckers I just dig them and pot as needed. Al
