air layering when to cut the branch off

I have air layered a dogwood and a crape myrtle and there just starting to root so should I plant them now or wait till spring? Thanks.

how big are the roots.. compared to what you are going to cut off???

the roots have to be able to support that above ...


i might take it to a pot for TLC to grow a good root mass .. that will survive in mother earth
