Cuphea Llavea from cuttings?

cynthiacTX(z8TX)September 4, 2005

Has anyone had success with Cuphea Llavea (Batface cuphea) cuttings?

I want make sure that I'm right as far as it should be SOFT wood cuttings?

Any advice will be helpful. My mom wants one very BADLY, and I only have one plant.

Any suggestions for soft wood cuttings will help me. I've rooted african violets, coleus and other things. But I have never had a cutting like this.

She won't be coming to get it till October, or can wait till spring so I have time if it takes a while to root.

Thanks!

Tip cuttings of softwood work best for Batface Cuphea.

Cynthia -
Don't ignore seeds for this plant. It is a seed machine and they can be found at the base of spent flowers. I was given a packet of seeds last year from avery generous trader and started all of my plants from that seed this year - what a great plant and so easy! - and nowhere to be found in the retail market here!

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK TAKING CUTTINGS FROM BAT FACE PLANT?
I DON'T WANT TO START THEM FROM SEEDS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ROOTED A CUTTING.

THANKS, SKW

Sorry I didn't have any luck with cuttings at all. However I did not use rooting hormone, so that of course could be why! :)
Sadly I lost the mother plant this year, so I'll have to hunt for one all over again.

As I stated previously, tip cuttings are your best bet.

Growing them from seed is easy.
