First Rose Bloom of the Year!

dublinbay z6 (KS)March 28, 2012

It's always so exciting to see which rose will start the parade each year, but I can't believe the parade has already started. This is about 6 weeks early! But there she was yesterday--the first bloom of the season.

Home Run

I noticed that Austin's Shakespeare 2000 has a really big fat bud on it with dark red showing, so I'm hoping it will be the second rose to bloom this year.

As long as we are in a springy mood, here's a more conventional spring picture--tulips and iris and some left-over remnants of daffodils. Anyone want to help with spring cleaning up? : )

Looking forward to seeing some of your first rose blooms of the season also.

Kate

Congratulations! Your garden looks lovely and full of spring!

I found two buds today on Double Delight so I'm really excited now!

I've still got about a month to go. About half the roses have buds on them, but they are small. I should have pruned a little earlier than what I did, but oh well. They all seem to be doing really well so far though. Should be a much better spring than the rainy one last spring.
