Miniature Roses not blooming

selmasoo(6b)May 14, 2013

Hello,

I really hope someone can help. I have a miniature yellow rose bush that has literally hundreds of buds, with some looking like they are almost ready to open, but they never do - the buds simply dry up, (as shown in the picture). I have had this rose bush for several years now (7-8), and in the past it has always had beautiful blooms. I also have noticed that the former green stems have changed into a deeper red. Not sure if it's because they are new branches, but have never noticed that in the past. The bush still looks so beautiful/healthy with strong leaves but I know it is not. What could be causing this? I really miss seeing the gorgeous blooms! If anyone knows anything or has an idea, please let me know.

Thank you in advance!
Susan

Is it potted or in the ground? Have you had a lot of temperature swings frpm very warm to cold? It looks very healthy in the picture.

It's been in the ground for approximately 7 yrs. Actually, we have had quite a bit of rain the past several weeks. That may be the cause. Yes, the rose bush looks really healthy but for some reason, and it started doing this this last year, the buds stay just that...buds. No blooms. :-/
