When and how is the best time to root?

I have Hansa and Therese Bugnet, and both will root over winter....just take the cutting now, and stick it in some nice loose soil...cover it with a soda bottle and leave the cap off. I prefer liquid rooting hormone for them if they have gobs of thorns...too hard to shake off excess powder. I haven't lost one so far....very easy to do.
