A rustled rose

cweathersbyApril 7, 2007

I found this rose in Texarkana. It is a repeat bloomer. The lady whose yard it is in says it has been there for at least 25 years because it was there when she bought the house. In her yard it is a big bush, but looks like it might could be grown as a climber. She doesn't seem to do any landscaping or watering and this rose has probably endured some pretty rough times considering what neighborhood it is in. The blooms are VERY fragrant. As you can see from the pictures, the canes that have been produced are long.

Please help me identify it.

Kaye,
Someone on Desert Rat said the same thing. It's a great rose to be able to survive all of those years of neglect, no matter what it is.
Did you look at the white rose I had in the other post? Do you think it's Ducher?

Carrie, Maggie was found at a plantation in LA..survived many years without care, as I recall the story.

If the white rose is a China and we knew came from my garden, it would have to be Ducher. I've looked at your pictures and my Duchers..still not absolutely sure but a good bet. Ron says his young Duchers have small blooms.
