Another Side of the House Rose that needs ID

davidchance(7a)May 14, 2011

This one is an old rose planted by my mom, probably at least 35 years ago.

It's growing totally wild in good sun, no feeding or anything. Very good classic rose smell from such small blooms.

I should have gotten a pic of how huge the canes are.

Does that rose have velvety flowers? Is it a once bloomer? I don't know what it is but I am trying to id a red rose also, curious if yours is like mine.

Thanks for the reply. Is starting to think no one had a clue about this rose.

Yes the blooms are rather velvety; and it does rebloom if memory serves. I truthfully never really paid roses any attention before this spring.

I am red rose challenged, and there are a number of reblooming red floribunda/shrub/climbers. You might want to contact Connie at Hartwood Roses, she may have a better idea.
