Pale Pink Climber

GabrielsymeJune 3, 2013

I know this is a long shot but I wondered. This rose was trained about 10' up our garage when we bought this house six years ago. It repeats lightly after the spring flush. The house is about seventy years old and because of what I know about the previous owners I believe this rose was planted before 1980, perhaps much earlier.

'New Dawn' was my first thought but this rose is well taken care of and still tops out at around 8-10'. Isn't 'New Dawn' a VERY vigorous climber? I prune this one every year but it seems like most of the growth I remove is at the sides since it sits next to an espaliered apple and I want to keep a some distance between them.

My NEW DAWN doesn't get much bigger than 8-9'. I'd say that's what it is also.

I would say it is New Dawn. I have three of them, two are 18 years old and have never gotten any bigger than 6 ft.

If looks like a duck...chances are it's New Dawn. Size can be very different from one location to the next so you can't go by what it does in somebody else's yard.

My New Dawn is also a very moderate size, never getting out of control. 10' feet sounds about right. I say put a label on this and call it a day.
