Red Climber, from body bag, any ideas?

gerry_wyomingpa(z6)June 27, 2005

Got this one last spring, can't remember the name from the label, but the other label, under the top one said 'red climber'. It grew shrubby for a while, then after we received a ton of rain from the remaints of Ivan last year it shot up 3 huge canes, about half of the height survived over winter, and it is shooting out more already. Bloomed at most leaf axils, and is putting out new growth already and just over it's first flush. Has a STRONG scent.

Can any one help?

I don't know what it is, but it is beautiful. You've done a great job of it.

Diane, the flowers from 'Dynamite' don't look quite as full as mine, but is as close as I have been able to get also.

May I suggest Alec's Red? The bloom form, color, and fragrance are all very similar, and it has dark green foliage as well.

Bren,

I think you are right, I looked it up on HMF, and see that it is very thorny also, and that fit!

I love the sight you linked to, great pictures.

Thank you so much!

You're welcome-I thought that their website offered a better picture to help match your rose. By the way, I love the coloring and the fullness of this rose-where did you purchase yours? I have never seen it offered in my area, and it is definitely one I would love to own someday.
