Help - indentify climbing rose species

CSPierceJuly 18, 2013

Hi all -

We inherited some climbing roses on the south side of our new home in Milwaukee, WI. They have bloomed for a short period each year, but tend to dry-up and die-out pretty quickly.

Can anyone help identify the type of rose? And, any suggestions on care/maintenance to keep it as healthy and beautiful as possible?

Thanks much!
Craig

That is Dr. Huey, a rose used as root stock for many years. What ever the original rose was it has died off and the root stock has come up now instead. It's a once a season blooming rose and a lot of people don't care for it. If you like it then keep it. Otherwise dig it out and replace it with something you like better.
