Unknown Pink Rose

albartsch(z6 MA)July 5, 2005

This rose was probably planted around the time the house was built-1940. It blooms on canes sent out the previous year, and the canes are about 6-8 feet. It has hundreds of blooms for 3 weeks in late June, July (I'm in the suburbs of Boston). In years past, noone has fertilized it, and it blooms just the same. Starts pale pink and fades slightly.

One more comment. It is most likely New Dawn, but I've never seen it repeat bloom so I thought it might be something else.

'Dr. W. Van Fleet', a non-recurrent climber, sported into the (usually) recurrent 'New Dawn'. Very similar flower & foliage.
