Can't be sure? Can someone ID this?

RealAmateurJuly 17, 2014

A little history, I transplanted these roses from upstate NY (Rochester) over a decade ago. They were my grandmothers and grew wild in a high hedgerow along the driveway. She never did anything with them and they thrived. I transplanted them again a couple years ago to a better place in my yard and they are coming back well.

They grow quite high and have long stalks and have new growth popping up all over the place from the roots. They seem to attract every fungus, mite, beetle and other critter crawling around. I need some advice on whether to peg them or what to do to make them more full and will post on the appropriate thread after I identify what kind they are.

Thanks in advance!!

Very pretty rose and it sounds like a good survivor. Can you post more photos of leaves, canes, buds and the whole plant?

Oh, and does it bloom just once in the spring or does it repeat all season?

Has this rose ever been placed in the shade? Is this the true color? Are the leaves the right color or are they darker? Does this rose smell fragrant? I am leaning toward a bourbon, but if there is no fragrance, perhaps not. I would like to see a whole plant picture if you have one. Is there a paucity of thorns? If this is quite fragrant and can bloom in partial shade, it might be Zephrine Drouhin.
