Drive passes a large Rugosa rose field

The Rugosa roses looked like hybrids and they are very fragrant. The place smelled heavenly. I am not sure why someone would farm these. Pictures taken along a high-way in Western China - as a proof, see the telephone poles are solid concrete. In the US, they are light wood poles.

I would love to drive by a whole field of blooming rugosa. Wonderful idea. Thanks for the pics--quite a sight!

Do you think they are growing hips for medicine?

If you click and view the large pictures, you can see the bees in the first picture. It is interesting to see bees are out in spring.

Pretty sure that's an ancient damask variety used to make rose oil. Something along the lines of Kazanlik (or older),
