ID old rose
Our house is early 1950s and a couple of the rose species planted close to the house are clearly very old (trunk bases like trees). One crimson, globular rose has intense fragrance, cleans badly, isn't "quartered" I don't think, but is in two halves held together with a few outer petals. It is now approx 2-2.5 m tall, has blooms one to a stem and the old growth has many thorns. New growth is red, becoming a darkish green.
The significant detail is that these roses don't open, they remain globular with perhaps one or two outer petals opening - so 4* perfume but very disappointing blooms.
Can anyone please identify?
