Extra harvest to give away; Lakewood, CO

WendyHuntJuly 30, 2011

I have extra lettuce (supreme elite and 4 seasons) and bok choy to give away. Is there a place to donate? I will also give away to individuals. Please respond.

You might check out a neighborhood retirement home - that can be iffy, what with liability issues, but here we have one home full of retired farmers and they love the stuff.

Or contact a church for the address of a local of a soup kitchen.

Hi Wendy,

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but here's a list of Food Pantries in Lakewood--some of which are churches, as David suggests--and you might call some of them to see if they can use your home grown food. (you can click Go Back and search other zip codes too)

I also checked out Plant a Row for the Hungry, but they refer you to Food Bank of the Rockies, and from what I can find on their site, it doesn't look to me like they accept small donations of fresh food! Don't know why Plant a Row links to them then, but you might call to find out!

Let us know if you find somewhere--for future reference.
