Need some advise

buckeyejoe(8 Coastal Carolina)February 5, 2007

I have a couple of roses that I purchased last spring and they performed great, a real knockout showing. I even picked two small blooms yesterday. They are now close to four ft high and have lots of new growth even in the winter. I plan to cut them back in a few weeks, after hard freezes are over. What can I do with the cuttings to propogate them. I just created a large bed that I intend to fill with roses and this could save me some major money. By the way, how long should it take from cutting to a decent flowering plant? I'm guess one season.

GO BUCKS!! OK, having got that out of the way, I have had some success with air-layering roses. Just scrape the bark of a lower branch and then put some dirt over the top of it, using a brick or something to weigh it down. The rose is usually good to go in a season or 2. Good luck!
