Ist time rooting success, please advise

sengyanFebruary 5, 2007

I posted on Jan 05 that my 3-month old HT cutting had shown no growth. I am ecstatic because there is growth. In fact, within the last week it grew 3 inches! It is still in an old aquariun and there is lots of moisture. Occasionally I spray the leaves with a very weak solution of epsom salt. The medium is Coir which I think has no nutrient. Please advise me about the following:

1 When do I start to fertilize and what kind do I use.

2 What concentration should I use and how often.

All advice appreciated.

Thank you

Congrats. :-) I start fertilizing when there are good roots showing and use VERY weak dilution. You will not hurt them by using too weak of a solution. I add a tiny amount of a no-burn fertilizer to the water every other day or so. The stuff I use (Schultz liquid) is supposed to be used once a week, at the concentration of 7 drops per gallon of water. For my use, I add a couple of drops per 2 gallons of water... Currently the 1 gallon pots in my sunroom are shooting out new basals like mad on this weak of a dose.
