Chinquapin or chestnut rose

paulacat(Z8 Coastal SC)May 6, 2011

Yesterday, I was given a cutting of this very unusual rose, and I want one of my own! I found a website that sells them but I'd really like to root this because of the long history of the bush it comes from. I have a new wood stem about 5-6" long. It had an open flower which has now dropped its petals and has two buds. Can anybody share a good way to root this...or can this stem be rooted? Thanks so much.

Paulacat, you might have better success from a sucker of the plant. Should that not be available, please take a look at this on my rose blog. It's been working quite well! Kim
