Help! My cuttings leaves have all turned brown

gilli2007(5)June 15, 2007

I am trying to root a cutting of a Rugosa rose. It has only been in the rooting medium (1:1 perlite/potting soil) for a week but the leaves have all turned brown and are dead. Does this mean the cutting has died?

Sometimes all the leaves fall off while it's rooting. Presence or absence of leaves is not a reliable indicator...

Cheers,
Michelle

If your leaves turned brown, this is a bad sign. It's not that the leaves just fell off that is bad, but turning brown indicates something is wrong. Explain how you prepared this please.

some of my leaves AND my stems turned brown. That at least was obvious to me. Out they went. But just the leaves, I guess one has to wait and see. (is it or isn't it, to be or not to be?)
