Frost riden plants

Well mother nature took care of my in-ground plants (Frost). I have a couple plants with mature pods. The pods are fully grown size wise, but are green still. Will they ripen? Should I pick them and just set them on the counter or just let die on the plants? I have one Red Bhut plant with well over 75-100 full grown green pods and I would hate to see them go to waste if they are salvageable.

If they have STARTED to turn color, then i would say they have a shot at ripening. Most varieties won't ripen unless there's at least some amount of color. There are some, like serranos, that will though.

You might try pulling the whole plant with some soil attached to the root ball and hang the plant in your garage and try to keep the ball moist.

You can always pick them and use them green. I am sure they are still quite hot... Too hot for most to even be able to tell if there is a taste difference.

Do as Kevin said, dig up the plant w/soil and hang. To keep root & soil moist - cover the root ball loosely with a plastic shopping bag and mist the soil as needed.

You can also make green bhut sauce; there's no rule saying it has to be red.

I pull alot of mine like everyone said and hang them upside down in the garage. I don't water, i let the peppers dry right there hanging on the plants. Most ripen. But i picked tons of green superhots before the frost and spread them out on a sheet of plywood in my basement and about 90% of them ripened

I had a branch with a dozen green pods of all sizes break off my BJ. It was without water for a couple days before I noticed it. I trimmed the broken end and put it in a vase. A couple weeks later the pods started turning yellow, then orange. Eventually *all* the pods colored. I don't know if this would have happened on the counter, i.e. without the vase, but it's worth a try.
