How do I grow Erica caffra from seed?

Hi there!

Has anyone here ever grown Erica caffra from seed? I ordered some and have no clue how to proceed. Do they need a cold stratification? What temperature is required for germination? Considering the very small size of the seeds I figure they have to be sown on top of the medium. In case they do germinate what about after-care? An already existing thread indicates they need an acidic, moist and well draining soil.

Suggestions would be highly appreciated!

Kirstenboch Arboretum in Capetown produces a product calles 'Smoke Papers'. I don't know if you can find them locally; but they are available from Nindethana Seed Service, Albany, Western Australia. Smoke treatment is essential in the propegation of nearly all South African Ericas.
