Indoor Germination

Hi All,

Thought I would try my first winter at moving a couple plants inside. I live in Minnesota and moved a Caribbean Red Hab and a Hot Cherry Bomb inside. After a slow start, both are flowering quite well. Probably 15 to 20 on the Cherry and 40 to 50 on the Hab. My problem is that nothing is setting fruit to date. I have probably lost my first 10 on each plant.

I am using a Hydrofarm JSV4 T5 light and have been feeding plant food when necessary. I read that some people use fans assist with germination. I tried with no success. I also read that people use small soft brushes to help each flower pollinate. This is where I have no idea when or how.

Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong and how I can get some peppers to pollinate.

This is basically a trial for me to learn how to make it work in the future, but I'll be bummed if I can't get some of these 70 or 80 flowers to germinate. Many have not opened yet, so I have some time to figure it out.

Thanks in advance!

Brian

I use a Q-tip. Brush it over the pollen bearing anthers and you will see yellowish pollen get deposited onto the cotton of the Q-tip. Touch that to the pistil of each blossom (the tube-thing that sticks out from between the anthers).

I do it every two days for C. annums because their flowers seem to only last a few days. For superhots, I do it every 3 or 4 days as their flowers seem to last much longer.
