This is why I grow them!

davemidohio(5 OH)June 6, 2011

Couple of first flush blooms.

We got hit with a heat wave that turned normally pink blush Gemini almost crimson:

This Moonstone is growing great and I almost dug it up!

And because you can't get too much of a good thing, my work desk:

Looks like it is going to be a good summer!

Great pictures, Dave! Don't you just love the way you get your money's worth from Gemini? She can look like about 5 different roses throughout a midwestern summer.

Wow, I've never seen mine look like that. I think it's in too shady of a spot maybe.

Beautiful roses!!! I especially like Moonstone. Gemini sure seems like an interresting rose. It's beautiful how the red defines the petals.

Thanks for sharing.

Flaura, you are absolutely right about Gemini having different looks - instead of Gemini (The Twins), should have been named Qunituplets!

I added some picts from last year (June 8) that show a more mellow version.

Beth, both of these are in about 8 hours direct sun. I also use alfalfa and AlgoFlash. I highly recommend both!

This message is to correct the spelling of Quintuplets in that last post and to add information that the two new photos are of Gemini!

My Gemini looks just like your top photo. What a shock it was since I'd only seen the more pastel photos.

(hummingbird pictures are superb)
