pecan trees

I am going to plant 7 pecan trees. what is the best pecan tree to plant in columbia, sc. how far apart? what variety? how much moisture required. Will be planting in a large yard. Will I need a pollenator?

You need 2 pecan trees of the correct type to be pollination partners.

Kanza is one variety that would work fairly well in your climate. Major is another. You could also grow Excel, Amling, or Prilop. Look at the varieties suggested for low input high scab pressure areas.

I also need some help. I recently bought a small and young orchard. 52 trees about 10-15 ft tall. I live in south east tx and June bugs are starting to come out. What's the best insecticide to spay them with.

60% sevin insecticide They feed at night best to spray early morning.
