Does this hybrid have any cultivar name?
Has anyone grown this plant?
I think there is an Israeli commercial cross out.
Think that there are several hybrids of these species that are being cultivated in New Zealand and Australia. Many are very garden-worthy indeed, and often superior to the species. Also, there are some super hybrids where Salvia recognita has been involved! 'Southern Belle' for example........BUT.........this, if not invasive, is one of the fastest and rampant Salvias I have ever grown! Needs to be hacked back severely after flowering. Wonderful when in flower.
Here is a good article on this hybrid:
Our "rampant" Salvia right now is our 3 year old gesneriifolia 'Tequila', still in full bloom. I haven't taken out the tape measure, but I believe it to be about 35 feet across and 16 feet tall. I'll try for a picture.
This is the only Salvia we have here that seeds itself about with any vigor.
Thank You all!
I have seen this plant around w/ hybird # 4 on it.
A friend here in Austin has one that is massive.
He also a population of "Blue Chiquita" consisting
of about 200 individuals equally impressive.
I look into this more.
