Spring collected hibiscus seeds-viable?

Justine_London(5b-6a On.,Can.)April 12, 2005

Good day,

I've "plucked" approx. 20 seeed pods/clusters from my dormant rose-of-sharon hibiscus shrub. It has a lovely double-white flower. Can I sow this harvested seed? ( it wintered-over on the plant) Is it a viable seed, or should I have harvested the seed clusters last fall before the freexing temperatures came? I only want to use this for a seed-exchange if it will possibly grow....Thanks for any assistance for this new-to-seed saver.

great, gardening, to all, Justsine

Seeds over-winter on the plant should be fine and no reason that they won't be viable. Have fun on the exchange!
