Salvias at Bouchard Gardens in Canada

hybridsageJune 2, 2009

There were only two salvias planted at this garden. Salvia

patens unlabeled blue form and Salvia jurisicii. The

salvia look alike was Isoplexis canariensis & Phlomis tuberosa all were in the Mediterranean Garden. It was rather

disappointing they did not have more salvias.

That is a shame because it is great to see what salvias can do given enough space. Longwood Gardens which is an hour south of Philadelphia has been leaning on them heavily in the summer gardens for some years now. Last year there were huge beds of involucrata, Mystic Spires, Vanhouttii, and several others. Few of us can grow on that kind of scale so it is great to see. I have always heard that Bouchard Gardens were pretty incredible, so there must have been other things to catch your fancy.
