This one is about 22" tall, is thick and has a groove down the middle of the leaf.

I'm no help here. Just too many look a likes. Even hybirds. Best bet is to check with where you bought it. Even at big box stores, check with the manager to check with the supplier.
It didn't come from a box store, but from someone who has a hobby greenhouse and sometimes sells what he propagates. He couldn't remember the species, but that's a gallon pot it's in, so it's fairly large.
Everyone knows it's hazardous to one's reputation to ID a plant from a photo. But since I have no reputation, my guess is that it might be S "Ed Eby", previously known as S. patens. If it's Ed Eby, it originated from a plant collected in Koko Crater, Hawaii and can't be traced back to it's African origin.
