Collecting Zinnia Seeds

mary_maxAugust 10, 2011

I have a lot of pots that have some beautiful zinnias and I want to collect the seeds. So later this month when the zinnias start to look poorly I will move the pots to the back of house. My question that came to mind was will I need to water the pots while I wait for the flowers to go to seed. Or do I just move to the backyard and forget about the pots and collect the seeds when they are ready. Thanks so much.

Hi, You do need to water enough to keep the plants alive while the seeds are developing. Think of it like a pregnancy, you got to keep the mother happy to make good babies.
