strange seeds. Normal?

I've been saving milkweed seeds for the past 2 months. Doing exactly as the veterans told me. Today I find both seed pods opened and I see one of them looks different. What does this mean?

The one on the left is the strange one to me.

Seeds on the left aren't ripe yet. You should wait till pods get a little brown and the fluff on the seeds are fluffy and ready to fly on the wind.

They were open, but I am thinking maybe a bird or something got to them? All the ones I have picked off recently were as you described.
