Bronze Fennel saving...

sondra_tn(South East TN (6/7))September 8, 2006

I am unclear as when to save these. I have some that have small yellow blooms on them. Can I clip these and dry them? I also have some blooms that are turning a light brown (they are so tiny) Are these the seeds? How do you seperate the chaff from the seeds being so small?

Hi Sondra,

After the blooms turn brown, many small, ribbed, brown seeds will form. They are easy to collect when ripe, and there isn't much chaff to speak of. -This page has a good picture of a ripe fennel seedhead.

Hope that helps,
