Who got Bin Laden

chase_gwJuly 27, 2012

This one's for Elvis....

" The president and his national security team - I'm not a political guy, but I will tell you, as - as an interested observer in this, they were magnificent in how they handled the start to finish.

We went through a number of meetings. The president asked all the right questions. His national security team, with Secretary Gates, Secretary Clinton, Chairman Mullen, the vice chairman, Tom Donilon, Denis McDonough and John Brennan and others, really did a fine job of digging down to find out the facts, to make their recommendations based on the facts.

And of course the president gave me ample time to prepare once the concept was approved. But at the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the president of the United States that shouldered the burden for this operation, that made the hard decisions, that was instrumental in the planning process, because I pitched every plan to him.

So any indication that Bill McRaven ordered this raid, led this raid was, you know, the key piece of this raid is just patently false."

I take it there has been some kind of controversy over who is responsible for the capture of Bin Laden? Evidently conservatives trying to take away any credit from our President by insinuating someone else was really responsible for it?

I guess I'm out of step--new one on me.

Here is the thread.

This is one of things Elvis said. he was asked to clarify twice but didn't.

"On the other hand, an honest question might provoke an honest answer, such as:

"Who allegedly gave the order to kill Osama bin ladin?"

Yes, a series of trial balloons (or thrown cow patties) to besmirk the President's record. Gets tiresome because most are so lame and so thin on the historic ground.

"Oh I imagine it "gets their goats" that the upstart Kenyan got the most wanted man in America ... too bad, so sad."

But he didn't do that! Somebody else made that happen, and it sure as hell wasn't Barack Obama. He was sitting safely in front of a TV set while "SOMEBODY ELSE made that happen."

Somebodies younger, braver, smarter, more patriotic and better prepared for their jobs than the president is for his went out and flew those helicopters, killed Bin Laden, and got his "wives" out of the compound.

Obama can "out" Seal Team Six all day long until the election, but he is no more their "partner" than he's a partner of private businesses.

Unlike Team Obama, real business partners and soldiers take risks for which failure means THEY pay the price for bad decisions.

Bush allowed Bin Laden to kill over 3,000 on 9/11.
He is responsible for the deaths of the people who dies horrific deaths aboard 4 hijacked airplanes and in the collapsing Trad Towers...all avoidable had Bush heeded the hijacking warnings delivered to him right in his face.

Bush called off the special op unit that was looking for Bin laden after they failed to capture him in Tora Bora, a blunder that was far worse than the Black Hawk down episode.

Bush, through his criminal negligence, allowed the single largest attack on our country in its history. For those who bought Condoleeza Rice's excuse that Bush could not have imagined Bin Laden's hijackers flying planes into buildings, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale you that may be interested in as well.
What difference did it make what they would do with 4 hijacked planes? Why didn't Bush do anything to stop 4 planes from being hijacked in about an hour?
There wasn't even a flight advisory issued to the public, to the media, or to the FAA or local law enforcement.

You know darn well what Bush was thinking when he was reading "My Pet Goat"
for seven minutes after being told our country was under attack... "Boy did I ever f--- up. What now? And how do I explain this? "

It is necessary because they cannot face the fact. It makes me laugh. Faux News has been twisting themselves in knots trying to take their watchers down the rabbit hole. That is OK the people that matter know who got Bin Laden it certainly was not
Bush he stopped looking.

Barrack Obama made sure to send the message you come on our ground and kill our people he will come for you in the tall grass.

I don't agree with government sanctioned assassinations that by-pass due process but Obama should have set off under cover of night, in an attempt to please. After swimming across the Atlantic he could have posed as a refugee and taken a break in the UK before setting off for the continent. Changing his wet suit for more casual attire he could then have walked due East first disguising his weapon as a baguette and later a Salami, taking time out in Afghanistan to learn Urdu. When he arrived in Pakistan some time later the locals would respond favourably to this elegant but gaunt young man politely asking directions. "Which is the way to the bin Laden house?"

Knock Knock

Whose there?

A face appears at a small barred window in the wooden door. What do you want? Have you seen the latest watchtower? The guy in the window turned and said, Hey Osama its the frigging Jovies again what shall I tell 'em? Then seeing his chance Obama could have stormed the place and taken all the credit for himself.

Then would they be happy?

I also don't like that so many Americans think any action taken against us on our own soil is this gigantic obscenity, as though we were all the Greek gods on Mount Olympus over here - yet we have had this sometimes murderous and generally meddling presence overseas for a very long time.

In fact, hey, (once again) the domestic attacks have been prompted by what we were doing over where them uther peeple come from.

While I am in perfect agreement with Bboy on the whole premise of assassination and the idea that we can do as we please but the rest of the world is supposed to abide by international law, I also think it is silly and petty to try and take the blame from where it should fall for the actions done. History is replete with examples of leaders 'doing' things. Hadrian did not build any walls and Napoleon did not himself fight his famous battles. We know that Willard Mitt Romney did not himself break up any company and sell its assets but he seems to get the credit for making the money(hah! this is another example of what you didn't do yourself but the community around you made possible) I have always heard Obama give full credit to the men who carried out the mission.

ROTFLMAO!!! Yeah, elvis! It makes perfect sense that, being a complete moron, you would waste your time "suggesting" that "Obama didn't give the order" despite what we all heard him say 24/7 in reruns afterward:

"Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

Attention, lurkers. Did you get that? A leftist shares the leftist view:

It's really no "gigantic obscenity" when US citizens are attacked on their own soil. Our "murderous and generally meddling presence" explains why Americans DESERVE to be attacked!

This forum is fun. People drop by all the time and mention they "mostly lurk." I doubt if they're "hanging on every word" but they could well be here for the grotesque entertainment value!!!!! :)

The far left is on a mission here. If they thought for a minute that nobody was reading this forum but a handful of "regulars," they wouldn't be so desperate to control it.

"She REALLY takes herself seriously, far more so that she takes other posters' contributions."

You mean "HOOT!" is the proper way of showing respect for opposing views? Silly me. Here I went and took time to explain why I disagreed. Shame on me!

I'll try to remember the rules. Liberals can make laughable claims with a straight face, but woe to the conservative who actually laughs at the unintended humor. Or who takes the time to make an argument explaining why she disagrees.

Barack Obama: "Today, at my direction, the United States launched a targeted operation against that compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. Ah, but he was the beloved "sock puppet" of Cheney. He was a Republican, born in the USA, he was the son of a former President.

He wasn't some "evil kenyan, not born in the USA, socialist, communist, illegal president with the wrong colored skin.

That' Republican, son of a former president, he gets all kinds of passes. He's special, he's protected by the right wing, he's "Mr Perfect".

Unlike "that one" in the White House now. "The one" that has to be removed at any and all costs, and that has been the goal since the moment that Obama won the election.

They have whined that the President had nothing to do with getting Bin Laden because he didn't pull the trigger? I missed that one.

How desperate and straw grasping that sounds. Really, it does. With all the arguments that could be made against the President by conservatives, THIS is a point they will choose to argue in this forum?

Really?

I guess it's true, even in political debates: Desperate times call for desperate measures.

This argument stinks of desperation, folks.

The race is still awfully close at this point, no need to drop to this particular Obama smear tactic in the form of debate tactic as of yet.
