heavenlyfarm(zone 6b)December 22, 2007

I am a fruit and veggie fanatic but I do love all kinds of plants. I am hoping to major in horticulture and fruit and veggie production and I have learned so much info hear that is sure to help. I would like to know of any good veggie seed saving books out there. Also which veggies need fermentation??? (I know of tomatoes) I would appreciate any post here on saving techniques for vegetables.

Thanks

Besides tomatoes, I use the fermentation method on other wet seeds enclosed in gel sacs... cucumbers, Mexican sour gherkin, West Indian gherkin. Another seed saver I know uses it for kiwano.

There are many seed saving books; most are for vegetables. Probably the best of these is "Seed to Seed" by Suzanne Ashworth. Others are listed in the link below, scroll to nearly the bottom of the page. Lots of other good seed saving info there as well, although some of the links are outdated.

Here is a link that might be useful: Seed saving resources (including books)
