Fruit Trees in containers?

Can I plant dwarf fruit trees in LARGE containers? If so how to care for them in winter? Thanks Cathy

It might be more trouble then it's worth since container soil freezes harder which could kill the plant. But if you have a heated garage or basement and water throughout the winter they just might make it, but they need to be hardened off before resetting them outside in the spring before the buds break.

Actually lots of people do it (or at least try) over on the container forum. I linked to a current thread below, it's about trees in containers in general. But try searching for posts in container gardening and you'll find lots of info.
