When can astilbe be planted outside?

tomahawkclaimApril 20, 2011

At a big box store, I bought an assortment of astilbe starts which I immediately potted. They're thriving on my window sill. When can I move them out to the garden? Do I have to wait until the last frost date? Nance

I was just going to say the same thing. I would wait until the ones outside are growing and all of mine are starting to pop out their heads.

I have the same question. It is March now, and I am in zone 7. I have never grown these before, but have them started in pots indoors and they are doing well. I would like to get them outside, but do not want to do it too soon. I guess my question is what should the average temperature be before they can go outside?
