Fern question...

bgaviator(7)May 28, 2013

Why do our ferns always get this browning occurring, especially more as the summer goes on? They look terrible by mid-summer usually, and I usually just want to cut them down. They are pretty well shaded, only getting some morning sun, and I try my best not to over/under water the area. Thanks.

Mine get a lot browner when it's hot and dry here and I do cut off the crispy parts. I'm near Fort Worth though, and we get long, hot summers. Mine perked up last fall after it cooled off and rained. They seem sensitive to sprinkling with treated water to me.

I have some late freeze damage on mine that looks a lot like yours.
