My friend has a plant with dark leaves near the ground with spots on the leaves. It looks like a white flower is coming up out of it? We don't know what it could be. Any help with names to "google" would be appreciated. Sarah
Is it in the lawn?
No it is growing in wooded area.
I looked up lungwort, but it has smaller flowers that are pink or blue.
possibly a trout lily, trillium or something like one of those spring ephemerals but seems too late for those to be flowering. also look at cranefly orchid or some of the other native, terrestrial orchids. they bloom later than the aforementioned plants.
a pic would help.
Ah, brenda may have it. Sarah, look up pictures of Chimaphila maculata.
My friend emailed me and said it is a dutch calla serrada.
I am going to research it. Thanks so much for your help. Sarah
