which crepe myrtle works here

tcason2July 25, 2013

I want to plant a crepe myrtle in this spot after removing the current tree. I have no clue what type of tree it is btw. But what I want to know is anyone's opinion on which crepe will work best in this area.

looks like an oak, maybe willow oak.
browse the crape myrtles at the link below.
good data about size, form, disease resistance, colors and bloom time to help find the right one for your planting site.
i prefer the ones with colored flowers insted of the whites but many people love the big one called 'natchez' with white flowers and exfoliating bark. the best color might depend on your house color.
i am partial to the purples and like
'catawba' and 'muskogee'.
if you like red, i read that 'dynamite' is the best cultivar.
