has anyone heard of these? and do you have a picture. i tried to look them up and nothing

Try googling Senna alata. According to Southern Living, they are only hardy in tropical zones. I have not grown them.

There is Parmentiera cereifera that is called the candlestick tree too. Don't know which one you are looking for.

If it's Senna alata, it can be grown as a dieback perennial in the South, it is grown successfully in zone 7b no problem this way.

Have a look at the link, and on that page there is an image tab for the plant entry that will show more photos. That should help you figure out if this is the plant to which you are referring.
