feeding acanthus/bear's breeches

vmarcos68(8A)April 26, 2006

Hello, new to this forum. I understand the acanthus is considered a drought tolerant plant. I divided 6 plants last spring that are sprouting up this spring. How does

xeriscape plants typically respond to water soluble fertilizer? Would I want to use a cactus food, or can anyone suggest the NPK numbers needed.

Acanthus is not a picky plant. Any regular commercial fertilizer is ok. Just follow the fertilizer's recommendations on treatment.

Hi, My Acanthus is looking brown at the tips of the leaves and they seem to be an irregular shape, like they are being eaten. There is no slug sign or eggs present, the flowers are very healthy. Anyone got an idea what might be causing this? Paul in Dublin, Ireland.
