Can someone identify this baby? I am in North Texas.

Most likely a type of garter snake. We used to catch them by the dozens when I was a kid. It may be a little ill-tempered when first encountered but becomes docile very quickly.

It looks way to big to be a garter snake! I used to catch them and they were no where near that big! Looks like a rattle snake to me.

how about a texas brown snake?
appears to have the dark brown spots around the eyes.

It's definitely not a rattlesnake. The head shape is all wrong.

Garter snakes in southern or warm climates grow to surprising sizes.

This baby wasn't big at all, maybe 9-10 inches...

It sure looks alot bigger than that! I used to catch them as a kid (in PA) and they were not much bigger around than a pencil and only about 6 inches long.
