Is it important to have level raised beds?

How important is it to level the raised bed? Is this different from gardening without a raised bed?

Where I want to place my raised bed there is about an 8 to 10 inch drop over the 14 foot length of the area.

Can I make two levels of the raised bed? Sort of like a terrace. Will this work?

You want a terrace or check dams. You will get lots of erosion if you don't.

All I did was make my beds out of 2"x12" lumber then leveled in by sinking the high end into the dirt. The lowest corner is about 1/2 inches into the ground with almost the whole board showing and the highest corner is about 10" into the soil with about 1.5"-2" showing above ground.

Just stagger the height of the boxes and dig down. I actually removed about 8 - 12 inches off of one end of the garden and still had to stagger the boxes.
