Leucophyllum - gopher resistance?

roseseekJune 28, 2011

I'm finding no information about the gopher resistance of Leucophyllum (Texas Ranger). Might anyone have any experience, please? Thanks! Kim

I haven't heard of gophers attacking shrubs as dry and woody as Leucophyllum. But if they're hungry enough, who knows. The gophers in my area usually go for more succulent plants.
But gophers do have to chew to keep their incisors in good shape. They might decide to gnaw on the Leuco's.

We have so many gophers...probably kill about 20 to 30 every year...and so far all 3 of my Leucophyllum are untouched; they are 6 or 7 years old now. But there's no guarantee when it comes to gophers.
