I got a 16x4 foot empty space that I would like to do somthing colorful with. I have planted some tulips and daffodils already around this space. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
Well I thought by now you'd have numerous ideas. My suggestion would be roses but naturally I'm partial. Many varieties are disease resistant and bloom constantly such as most polyanthas and chinas.
Thank you OldBlush for the idea. This is my first time dealing with flowers. All I knew when I started was I wanted alot of different colors. I bought 60 tulips and 40 daffodils and thought that would fill the entire bed.I didn't plan any further than that.
I second the idea for roses - I also like the polyanthas. Some tea roses would be nice too. I intermingle daylilies in my rose beds, along with some other perennials, to tie the colors together. Dayliles and roses have similar water needs.
Roses look beautiful with nepetas (blue flowers and greyish foliage), phlox, lavender, other easy perennials are blackeyed susans (re-seed so you need to deadhead them), stokesia (purple, white or blue), dianthus (bath's pink is easy), becky daisies.
So many choices!
I have daffodils and tulips in my rose bed, too, so of course I agree with the above opinions. ; )
