Kale Question

What spacing should be used for Kale? I could swear I read somewhere that spacing could be 4/sq. Though looking at the recommended spacing on the pkg of seeds it would be 1/sq.

1 sq foot is fine, plant just enough so that all you have to do is harvest the outside leaves which will keep the width in check.

I grew four per sq.ft. all last year (dwarf blue curled variety) and that was a pretty tight squeeze. The key is to stay on top of the harvesting as violet notes. If you want the kale to grow a bit larger, then probably one per sq. ft. will work just fine.

Thank you very much! I think I'll do just 1/sq since my husband isn't too fond of kale and I'm growing a variety called Russian Red (which I think is large).
